The portable building has been placed on land at the Millennium Green in the village and the shop is now up and running under proprietors Liz Hawkins and Nikkie Catmore.
The old shop was part of a cottage facing re-development so the village decided to create a new facility to replace it.
Local district councillor Malcolm Prowse led the project on behalf of Bratton Fleming Parish Council to obtain permission and buy a purpose-built building to meet the community’s needs.
It was bought by the parish council at a cost of £34,000 and water, drains and electricity connected. The costs were met by a community benefit receipt from the Cape Solar Farm on Bratton Down and Bratton Fleming Composting Group.
